If
you are involved in bin stocking programs for your customers, the Remote
Bin Stock ing
system is made to order. Remote Bin Stocking allows you to enter the
data necessary to create a sales order by utilizing a portable hand-held
data terminal with an attached laser scanner while you are at a
customer’s site.
Typically, the items are scanned from a bar coded label on the bin. The
quantity may be entered using the keypad on the data terminal, scanned
from a quantity input sheet, or it can be automatically picked up from
the Bin Master File.
Once
the
data has been entered in the portable data terminal, the order is
communicated to the IST software either via a modem in the hand-held
unit, or by attaching the hand-held unit to the computer and uploading
the data. Once the data is received into the IST software, the system
generates a sales order from which a pick ticket, packing list, and
invoice are produced.
