NewVision E-Ship Overview

The E-Ship module will give you the capability to complete the order process with efficiency and accuracy. E-Ship starts at the packing process, handles multiple carriers and the manifests for those carriers, notifies the customer of the shipping date, method, and tracking number and also helps you reconcile your freight bills. As an option, you can also utilize the E-Ship Rate Shopping feature to assist your sales staff in providing shipping methods and costs during the order taking process.

 Key Features
Pack Line Scanning
Packing captures and stores information about the package as well as the products packed in each package. It also includes a pack line scanning function that allows the user to drive the entire shipping process with a wedge scanning device connected between the keyboard and PC. Although Pack Line Scanning is an extremely efficient method of verifying that the correct items and quantities are being packed, this granule also offers two other methods of packing and shipping. Fast pack presents the user with a list of items to be shipped on the order and accepts entry to determine which item is being shipped in the current package.

Standard Pack is a function that is used to create standardized packages automatically based on a standard pack and unit of measure. All of this can be facilitated by the scales interface which is used to communicate with an electronic scale. When E-Ship requests the weight of a package a command is sent to the scale which generates a response containing the weight of the package currently on the scale.

Manifests
The UPS Manifest rates the shipment, prints the UPS shipping label and uploads an electronic manifest to UPS via the Host Manifest Upload protocol

FedEx and FedEx Ground Manifest sends a transaction via the internet to a FedEx server and retrieves rated shipping information and prints the appropriate shipping label. It also facilitates the day-end close and electronic manifest.

Both the UPS and FedEx Manifests replace the current shipping station.

Rate Shopping (Enlarge)

LTL Shipping rates LTL shipments based on rates contained in the system. The LTL shipping granule includes an interface to SMC3 shipping rates. Airborne Manifest rates the shipment, prints the Airborne shipping label and uploads an electronic manifest to Airborne at day-end.

Bill of Lading
The Bill of Lading/ASN provides a Bill of Lading document that enables the user to build a combined shipment by attaching Sales Orders, Shipments, and Packages. The Bill of Lading and its detail becomes the basis of the EDI Advanced Shipment Notice and the printed VICS Bill of Lading.

Shipment Notification
This granule provides for the user defined formatting of e-mails based on NewVision documents such as Sales Orders, Shipments, and Invoices. One of the most common uses of this granule is to send an automatic e-mail shipment notification including package detail and tracking numbers.

Freight Invoice Reconciliation
Freight Invoice Reconciliation compares shipping charges calculated by the various manifest granules to the freight vendor’s invoice. After reconciliation, the results are used to create a purchase invoice for the freight vendor.

Rate Shopping
Rate Shopping provides a means of quoting rates from the NewVision Sales Order Entry function or from the Bill of Lading. All NewVision Sales Entry functions provide for the calculation and display of weight which allows the salesperson to quote based on different carriers and shipping methods.
